Activities
All Geography, meets as an after school activity. Anyone who is enrolled at the school is free to attend, at anytime they want. There are two separate centers for the participants to choose to go to: Social Geography and Physical Geography. Social Geography deals more the human side of the globe. This means that the students will learn about the lifestyle, cuisine, music, business, and history of different countries. Physical Geography encompasses the world's landscape. We present how the different types of terrain came to be, how they affect their region, and what makes them important in the global sphere. A participant may choose to switch between them freely at anytime. Younger students tend to frequently do both sides. Therefore, there are more workers there for them. Many pictures, dioramas , videos, and activities are there for them both. Older students, are typically more focused on the social side of the realm, especially those who are interested in going into the business world. For them, we have frequent guest speakers from businesses to talk about how the cultures shape the transactions and business deals. We also have many of the same material for these youth as for the younger ones. |
All of our pictures have been collected by either our own personal trips to places, or have been purchased from professionals. Many of the dioramas are interactive so participants can become more involved in working with them. Our videos are typically part of a series by certain big name companies, such as National Geographic. This way we can ensure that the information being presented is trustworthy and safe.

Some of the activities include learning how to make certain cuisine from the countries, exploring local terrain, and making field trips to museums in the area. There is also the aforementioned trip to a foreign nation that happens biannually.
Volunteering All work is provided on a volunteer basis. Most of our volunteers come from local colleges and universities that are currently enrolled and majoring in geography. This allows them to gain experience in what it will be like teaching. Volunteers do not have to be college students, but can be anyone who simply wants to help. Even if you feel like you have no knowledge of geography, we can always use people who can help set up and help watch the younger children. If you are interested in volunteering, please see our contacts page and either call or email us and someone will be there to help you. We also provide tutoring services to students who need help in geography courses or in a subject pertaining geography, such as history or geology. We make sure our tutors are well qualified to help and service is completely free of charge. |
